Teacher Self-Care 101
The importance around mental health awareness has never been more prevalent in society. Such attention has also grown the interest of individuals in practicing self-care, that being any action that improves a person’s health or well-being. As the troubles of life bog you down, it’s all about being able to separate from those troubles and find ways to take care of yourself. This is particularly true of the more demanding occupations, such as teaching for example. In this occupation in particular, self-care will have an impact on a teacher’s wellbeing in addition to the quality of instruction their students receive. Effective self-care will be able to target actions that strengthen and fortify the physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, social and professional health of any individual, including teachers.
